Border States Electric closes McAllen and Weslaco branches

Texas Business reports:  FARGO, N.D. – Border States Electric is consolidating resources in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas.

BSE will close its McAllen and Weslaco branches on January 26.

This change will increase the number of employees, build up inventory and augment the delivery fleet in its Brownsville, Edinburg and Harlingen, Texas, locations to enhance customer service.

“We believe consolidating resources in Brownsville, Edinburg and Harlingen will allow us to better serve our customers and expand our service offering in the Rio Grande Valley,” said chief executive Tammy Miller in a prepared statement.

BSE provides products and services to the construction, industrial and utility markets.

Active employees own 100 percent of the company under the employee stock ownership plan (ESOP).

The employee-owned company has approximately 1,400 employees and 56 branch operations in 13 states.

BSE is the seventh largest electrical distributor and one of the 100 largest private ESOP companies in the U.S. Corporate headquarters are located in Fargo, N.D.
