Fort Worth Firm Wins Huey Upgrade Contract

Texas Business reports:  A Fort Worth firm won a $56.7 million contract to provide components for the manufacturing of the Huey helicopter upgrade program.

Bell Helicopter Textron Inc. received a $56,750,000 advance acquisition contract to provide long lead parts and components required for the manufacture of Lot 10 UH-1Y (15) and AH-1Z (13) helicopters for the Marine Corps in support of the H-1 upgrade program. 

Work will be performed in Fort Worth, Texas (60 percent), and Amarillo, Texas (40 percent), and is expected to be completed in September 2013. 

Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.

This contract was not competitively procured pursuant to federal regulations.   

The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md., handed the contract.
