Texas Business Patent of the Day:  A deep South Texas man has devised a new way to lay pipe.

Daniel E. Davis recently received U.S. Patent 8,152,412 for “Pipelayer with Cab Riser.”

Davis applied for the patent almost three years ago on May 29, 2009.

The patent assignee is Volvo Construction Equipment AB of Eskilstuna, Sweden.

Pipelayers are typically used for the construction of underground pipelines which transport hydrocarbons, such as natural gas or gasoline, according to the patent document.

Typical operation of the pipelayer includes raising, carrying, and lowering heavy pipe.  His pipelayer is a crawler or tractor-type vehicle having a maneuverable boom.
