Texas Business reports: DALLAS—Republic Companies Inc. named Joseph E. Mattingly to serve as the company's president and chief executive officer.
Mattingly, 52, has served since 2006 as senior vice president – insurance operations, and president of insurance companies of the Meadowbrook Insurance Group, a property and casualty insurer utilizing different distribution sources for its products, including independent agents and managing general underwriters.
During his tenure with Meadowbrook, Mattingly was instrumental in overseeing premium growth while maintaining underwriting profitability.
Mattingly began his 31-year career as an underwriter and subsequently assumed a range of management and operational responsibilities covering underwriting, claims, business development, marketing, IT and reinsurance.
He received a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Missouri.
“Joe's successful performance in the industry and his recognition of the value of Republic's employees and independent agents makes him an excellent choice by the Board to continue building on Republic's strengths,” said Danny Guttman, the representative of Delek Finance US Inc., the parent company of Republic in a prepared statement.
“I am excited to lead Republic, with its long-distinguished history, strong management team, committed employees and loyal independent agents,” said Mattingly in a statement. “I plan to build on Republic's strategy of improving products and strengthening pricing, underwriting and technology to enable our agents to provide our customers the best possible solution while achieving sustained profitability.”
Mattingly will assume his new duties March 12.
