S&P Wins $9.3 Million Texas State University Renovation Project

Texas Business reports: SAN MARCOS—The Texas State University System selected Satterfield & Pontikes Construction Inc. (S&P) to perform as the construction manager at risk for the psychology building renovation project on the San Marcos campus.

The $9.3 million project consists of renovation, remodeling and selective demolition of 37,500 square feet of the existing psychology building for the philosophy, computer science and transportation services departments.

The renovation includes major modifications to the HVAC, electrical, plumbing and telecommunication systems within the building.

New facilities will include general classrooms, research labs and offices.

The exterior renovation of the project will enhance architectural features on the building's exterior. In addition, the building will also be updated for code compliance issues as well as infrastructure upgrades.

Randall Scott Architects will provide design and architectural services. Pre-construction activities are underway, and construction is expected to begin next spring.

The project will be directed by S&P’s San Antonio office and is scheduled to be completed by May 2014. At present, S&P is completing its first project for the Texas State system, a new headquarters building for the Department of Housing and Residential Life.
