Garey will be responsible for oversight of the station, which is programmed by Sinclair under a time brokerage agreement.
The announcement was made by Steve Marks, chief operating officer of Sinclair's television group.
“We are pleased to promote Rix to the position of general manager,” Marks said in a prepared statement. “As someone who has spent his career at KFDM, he understands the needs of the community and the role KFDM plays in it. We look forward to Rix building on that relationship.”
“I am excited about the opportunity to lead KFDM, one of the country's top CBS affiliates,” said Garey in a statement. “Our success is the result of the hard work and dedication of all our employees that have served the station and our community.
