Texas Business reports:  Satterfield & Pontikes Construction Inc. completed construction of three new Walmart Supercenters for about $37.8 million in Corpus Christi.

Grand openings for the three stores marked the first time that Walmart has opened three locations in one city on the same day.

S&P’s San Antonio Business Unit built a new 180 Proto Supercenter on Staples Street, a 180,000-square-foot megastore that sits on the site of the former Parkdale Plaza shopping mall. One of the largest Walmart stores in South Texas, nearly four football fields could fit inside the new Supercenter designed by Raymond Harris & Associates. With a construction cost of $11.8 million, the megastore includes large deli, produce and bakery sections as well as a pharmacy, garden center and a tire and lube center.

S&P’s San Antonio Business Unit also constructed a 150 Proto Supercenter on Saratoga Boulevard at a cost of $13.0 million. The 150,000-square-foot project was designed by BRR Architecture.

The third new Supercenter, a 150,000-square-foot facility located on Flour Bluff Drive, was constructed by S&P’s Houston Business Unit at a cost of $12.8 million and was designed by BRR Architecture. The Saratoga and Flour Bluff locations also provide grocery sections, garden centers and pharmacies.

S&P built all three structural steel and masonry buildings in less than a year. The stores include energy-efficient and environmentally friendly features to reduce energy and water usage and feature new layouts with wider aisles and low-profile shelving.

Established in 1989, Satterfield & Pontikes Construction  Inc. is a general contractor and construction manager.
